Herbal Wellness Class

Session one Starts Feb 4Th and Session Two Starts July 2oth



Module One: Ways of Knowing Herbs



In our first module, I will introduce you to the history of therapeutic use of herbal preparations by professionals and practitioners of domestic medicine. We will discuss various ways of knowing and understanding plant constituents.

Preparations we discuss in this module will be those made with water including broths, beverage teas, infusions and decoctions.



Module Two: It's All Connected



Our physiology focus for this module will be building healthy connective tissues. The mucosa, the vasculature and blood support the function of all major organ systems. We will discuss how to support thier optimal function with botanical constituents and lifestyle modifications. This module's preparation focus wil be on extractions made by maceration including cordials, liqueurs, acetums and hydroethanolic extracts.



Module Three: A Strong Defense



Prevention is the focus of this module. We will continue the discussion of our lymphatic system we started when talking about the vasculature. We will discuss herbs that stimulate the immune system in various ways and herbs that interfere with viral replication and bacterial colonization. Our preparation focus is going to be on medicinal mushrooms, and resins.



Module Four: Diet and Digestion



In our fourth module we will continue oru discussion of gastrointestinal health..We already have a good start on building healthy GI tissuem, so now we will discuss the beneficial bacterial colonies living in our gut and what happens when they get a little uppity. Preparations taught in this module will be seasoning blends and bitters preparations that support the optimal digestion of our food.



Module 5 : Skin and Bodycare



This is the module everyone wants to take from me because of my background in managing eczema. We discuss the integumentary system and the many different things your outer shell can tell you about your inner function. Then we will dig into bodycare preparations in two different Zoom classes. Preparations you will learn to make include infused oils, salves, cerates, liniments, and fun stuff like body scrubs and make up.



Module Six: Stress and the CNS



In our final module we talk about nervous system function and how dealing with the stress of late-stage capitalism impacts our emotional and physical well-being. We will talk about bandaid-blends that help our bodies adapt. As the nervous system also manages our experience of physical pain we will also talk about analgesic herbs and some anodyne herbs. Our final preparation class will be all about about building our herbal preparedness kit.
