My Present

Happy New Year!  It is January, 2010 and we have entered a new decade.  Hopefully it is one which will see the growth of green goodness in all walks of life.   The year will see me with many irons in the fire; Wife, Mom, Herbalist, Homeschool Teacher, Full-Time College Student,  Johnson County Master Gardener, and occasional Renaissance Faire performer.  I am busy  but variety is the spice of life and I truly enjoy mine.

My daily life focuses on homeschooling the four children and the tasks of day-to-day living.  We dedicate the winter to sewing and craft projects that I don’t have time to work on during the gardening months.   We have a new homeschooling project in the works,  but there will be more on that later.

I am busily planning my gardening efforts for the spring.  It won’t be much longer until I start my seedlings.   I completed the required volunteer hours to become a full-fledged Johnson County Master Gardener, over the summer and fall of 2009.   This year, I  plan to continue volunteering for the hortline.  I believe I will be starting back again in February.    I really enjoy working in that capacity although I certainly could use some more training in the area of plant disease identification.    I am also looking forward to having more opportunities to give the Edible Gardening Presentation, I developed.   Feel free to contact me at stephany@naturallysimple.org if you would be interested in having me speak at your event.    I am thinking of doing an internet version of the presentation for people to watch on their own time and then e-mail me with questions.

I am back-to-school this semester and taking classes to finish off my AA,  as well as inch me a bit closer to my goal of becoming an AHG certified herbalist.   The nice thing about my plant biology class is that it fulfills a requirement for the AHG and meets my continuing education requirements for the MG program.  If all goes as plans,  we will be doing a bit more traveling over the summer in order for me to attend a few herb seminars and conferences.
